The Warehouse Restaurant – Colorado Springs

The Warehouse in Colorado Springs offers a truly unique dining experience, blending an upscale rustic atmosphere with walls lined in captivating local artwork. It’s the kind of space that feels both refined and deeply connected to the community. Our server, Kaylee, was excellent: warm, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout the evening.

We started with the smoked turkey leg hush puppy appetizer. The concept was interesting, especially paired with the cranberry–horseradish sauce, but the execution fell short. The flavors didn’t quite harmonize, and the dish felt a bit under-played overall, despite its creativity.

The cocktails were a highlight of the night. The Old Fashioned was well-balanced, and the Gin Fizz was refreshing with just the right amount of brightness.

For entrées, we ordered the yak trio beautifully presented with accompanying sauces served in clever zucchini vessels and the elk strip loin. Both dishes were cooked perfectly, showcasing the kitchen’s skill with game meats. Each paired wonderfully with the wines recommended by the staff, creating a harmonious main-course experience.

Dessert was a mixed experience. The tiramisu lacked the light, fluffy texture one hopes for, and the bread pudding was overcooked, resulting in a rubbery bite. Fortunately, the espresso martini ended the meal on a high note smooth, well crafted, and thoroughly enjoyable.

One disappointment: we had hoped to speak with the chef/owner, but for reasons unclear, he skipped our table during his rounds.

Overall, The Warehouse offers great ambiance, thoughtful service, standout entrées, and a fascinating art-filled setting. While some dishes missed the mark, the experience as a whole was memorable, and there’s plenty of potential in its creative approach to elevated rustic cuisine.
